The Brainiac Story

The Brainiac was bored. He had seen everything there was to see on the television, and he felt like his mind was wasting away. He longed for something new, something challenging, something stimulating.

He decided to go out for a walk. He put on his glasses, which allowed him to see the world in different ways. He could switch between infrared, ultraviolet, x-ray, and other modes of vision. He could also zoom in and out, enhance details, and filter out noise.

He left his couch and his apartment, and ventured into the city. He saw people, cars, buildings, trees, birds, and other things that he had seen before, but he tried to look at them with fresh eyes. He wondered what they were thinking, feeling, doing, and why.

Came across a park, where he saw a group of children playing. They were laughing, running, jumping, and having fun. He felt a pang of envy. He wished he could join them, but he knew he would not fit in. He was too different, too strange, too brainy.

He sat on a bench and watched them from a distance. He tried to imagine what it would be like to be a child again, to be carefree and innocent, to have friends and family, to have a normal body and a normal life.

He noticed that one of the children, a girl with curly brown hair and a pink dress, was looking at him. She seemed curious and fascinated by him. She smiled and waved at him. He felt a surge of emotion. He smiled and waved back.

Wondered if she would like to talk to him, to learn more about him, to be his friend. He wondered if he could teach her something, or if she could teach him something. He wondered if he could make her laugh, or if she could make him laugh.

He got up from the bench and walked towards her. He hoped that this would be the start of something new, something challenging, something stimulating.

He hoped that this would be the start of his story.

The Couch Potato Brainiac Poem

I have a brain that never stops
It thinks and dreams and wonders and plots
It sees the world in different ways
It switches modes and filters rays

I have a body that’s not like yours
It’s made of tentacles and pores
It feels the touch of every thing
It senses pain and pleasure and sting

I have a life that’s not very fun
I sit on a couch and watch the sun
I wish I had some company
Someone who would understand me

I have a story that’s yet to begin
It waits for a spark or a twist or a spin
It hopes for a chance or a change or a sign
It longs for a friend or a love or a rhyme
